Ok, back to the task at hand. Earth Science program at Oak Canyon Nature Center was a hit with both kids today.
Earth Science - from the ground up - soil, rocks, and the fossil evidence tell a
story of the past.
Both J & Jules loved the presentation and the information. Mr. Glen and Ms. Michelle did a good job of keeping the kids interested.
The first activity the group created the earth. Each person had a part. Inner core, outer core, mantle, with the adults an a couple of the older kids playing the crust. The inner core was solid. The outer core move around in a circle around the inner core. The mantle they waved their arms. The crust :) we got to crackle and shake.
Then inside for a tour of the museum, which they were surprisingly into. Then out to the deck for the presentation. Then off for a hike to see the different types of rock on the property. We closed with an animal presentation.
All in all a great activity and we look forward to our next visit where we cover-
Trailblazer - Learn the outdoor skills of orienteering, animal tracking and
hiking safety.
