Michelle, our guide, park ranger person was excellent with the kids today.
We started in the museum where they kids did a scavenger hunt type thing where they looked for the birds or answers to clues that could be found in the museum. Fun, easy, and informational for readers and non-readers alike.
Then out to the deck for some bird information. Types, food, size 2" - 9 feet!, feathers, eggs, mammals, warm blooded. All sorts of things.

Next was the hands on portion. Where they pretended that they had beaks (tongs, chopsticks, and assorted other pincher type items) and tried to pick up nuts and seeds out of different containers. Fun for the under 2 year olds and fun for the almost 11 year old.
The program was wrapped up with a walk in the woods. Everyone was given a pair of binoculars to use and a local bird guide to help identify what they found.
